The case for and against

Updated Oct 21, 2026

Bull case

AnaptysBio is attractive because its value is increasingly anchored by Jemperli, whose global net sales reached $331M in 2Q26 and $644M in 1H26, rising 26% and 34% year over year, respectively. The company benefits from multiple near-term catalysts, including Health Canada’s review acceptance for rectal cancer, FDA priority review with a February 2027 PDUFA, and a December 12, 2026 PDUFA for Quimilza, while AZUR-1 data showed meaningful and sustained complete responses at 12 months. Longer term, expanding Jemperli into colorectal cancer and other tumor types, plus patent life through 2035 to 2037, supports durable royalty growth and potential annualized royalties above $390M as early as 2029.

Bear case

AnaptysBio is exposed to substantial fundamental risk because its value depends on uncertain clinical outcomes, regulatory approvals, and partner-driven royalty streams rather than an established commercial base. The company faces multiple overhangs, including failed or inconclusive Jemperli trials, ongoing litigation with GSK, and regulatory risk around both Jemperli expansion and the submitted BLA for imsidolimab, any of which could reduce royalty upside and overall valuation. Although it currently does not project a need for additional capital, disappointing financial results, slower Jemperli uptake, or heightened PD-1/PD-L1 competition could pressure cash needs and sentiment in a capital-intensive biotech model.
