The case for and against

Updated Oct 21, 2026

Bull case

BitGo Holdings is well positioned to benefit from its expanding institutional platform, which now links custody, trading, settlement, financing, staking, and onchain products through a single regulated infrastructure. The company’s 5,833 clients, $65.2 billion in customer assets on platform, and $11.9 billion of period-end staked balance show meaningful adoption, while normalized assets and staked balances rose sequentially despite a difficult crypto backdrop. Although 2Q26 revenue mix caused margin pressure, management expects trading spreads to recover toward 20-25 bps, staking activity to improve in 3Q26 and 4Q26, and cost savings of about $15 million annually to support profitability.

Bear case

BitGo Holdings is viewed negatively because its core custody, trading, staking, and lending businesses face intense competition, regulatory uncertainty, and direct exposure to volatile digital asset markets that can quickly erode activity and fee generation. Despite ~40% of its $4.3 billion in total revenue coming from outside the US, net revenue was pressured by spread compression to 17 bps, while adjusted EBITDA stayed negative at ($4.1) million to ($4.2) million and GAAP EPS missed at ($0.16), reflecting weaker economics from digital asset sales and staking. Management’s conservative 3Q26 guidance, along with the CFO transition and ongoing security, counterparty, and brand risk, suggests execution remains fragile and earnings quality under pressure.
