The case for and against

Updated Oct 14, 2026

Bull case

Dynatrace is favored because its unified observability platform is winning in AI, logs, and enterprise monitoring, with more than 1,000 customers observing AI/LLM workloads and AI cohorts growing 1.5x faster than non-AI customers. The Arize acquisition meaningfully strengthens its end-to-end AI observability offering, adds about $40 million of ARR and roughly 200 bps to ARR growth, while also opening a developer-led PLG motion and cross-sell opportunity across 4,000 large enterprise customers. With DPS renewals now becoming a larger catalyst, around 700 customers and 33% of Total ARR in 4QFY24 are approaching renewal, logs consumption has risen to about $200 million annualized, and management’s guidance appears conservative relative to the potential for NNARR and revenue acceleration.

Bear case

Dynatrace is vulnerable to multiple compression if growth slows, execution weakens, or investor expectations for observability and security expansion disappoint, especially given the risk that quarterly results, guidance, revenue growth, ARR growth, quota-carrying sales rep count, new logo growth, or net expansion rates deteriorate. Its long and unpredictable sales cycles, intense competition, and low switching costs make cross-selling harder and raise the odds that product proliferation across monitoring, logs, application security, and cloud security creates customer confusion and slower purchasing decisions. Although management cites a 22.5x 2028E EV/FCF and 6.0x 2028E EV/sales valuation, downside risk remains from macro volatility, risk-off sentiment, and the challenge of sustaining high revenue growth in a crowded market.
