The case for and against

Updated Oct 23, 2026

Bull case

RB Global is viewed positively because its transformed marketplace model is generating tangible operating gains, with cycle times down about 20% since the IAA acquisition closed in March 2023 and further improvement still available through technology and automation. Its scale and market position are also compelling, including a 50-acre Ontario salvage yard serving the Greater Toronto Area, dominant Canadian share, and Q1 2026 GTV of $4,341 million, up 13.4% year over year, alongside revenue of $1,235 million and Adjusted EBITDA of $362.7 million. The company also has multiple growth levers, including realized synergy progress, a target of $100–120MM in cost synergies, $350–900MM of potential EBITDA from revenue synergies, and a counter-cyclical legacy equipment business that should benefit from improved supply.

Bear case

RB Global is facing a negative fundamental setup because a prolonged “tight” equipment supply environment could suppress GTV growth and Adjusted EBITDA margin, while slower traction on the RBAS platform may limit online-channel upside and penetration in midstream and upstream segments. The outlook is further weakened by the risk that synergies from the IAA acquisition come in below expectations, alongside meaningful integration risk, which is especially important given the 2023 combination of Ritchie Bros. and IAA. Even with Q1 Service Take Rate at 20.7%, down 160 bps year over year, exposure to guarantee/inventory contracts and foreign exchange risk adds further pressure to execution and profitability.
