The case for and against

Updated Jul 21, 2026

Bull case

United Parcel Service is the world’s largest package delivery company, generating approximately $90 billion in annual revenue. With its extensive global network, extensive fleet of planes and vehicles, and customer-centric approach, UPS delivered an impressive 22 million packages per day in 2025. The company has shown strong financial results, with revenue, operating margin, and EPS exceeding expectations in 4Q25 and FY26 guidance also being above current expectations. Despite facing challenges such as economic slowdowns and geopolitical risk, UPS’ execution on cost savings initiatives, revenue quality management, and pricing strength make it an attractive investment opportunity with a price target of $115.

Bear case

United Parcel Service is a global parcel delivery company that manages a massive fleet of planes, vehicles, and sorting facilities to deliver an average of 22 million packages per day worldwide. While the company's domestic US package operations generate the majority of its revenue, international package and air and ocean freight forwarding and contract logistics also contribute to its revenue. However, the company faces various risks, including a potential global economic slowdown, pandemic-related lockdowns, price competition in the US ground parcel market, and fluctuations in USD/EUR exchange rates. Additionally, labor strikes, cost inflation, and the rise of disruptors in the package delivery space could also impact the company's profitability. However, investors may still be interested in UPS due to its potential for margin expansion through cost containment and efficiency measures, as well as its focus on higher margin SMB and Healthcare businesses. While the company is currently facing a decline in volume from its largest customer, this is already priced into the stock, making its current trading multiple of ~13x our 2025 adj. EPS estimate a compelling buying opportunity.
