The case for and against

Updated Oct 15, 2026

Bull case

Adeia is supported by a resilient IP licensing model, with renewal of Charter Communications’ Spectrum brand reducing litigation overhang and reinforcing the durability of its pay-TV cash flows. Its differentiated semiconductor portfolio is increasingly attractive as hybrid bonding adoption accelerates, while advanced thermal solutions for AI-driven semiconductors and new licensing frontiers expand the addressable opportunity and strengthen cross-portfolio benefits with media applications. With second quarter results showing accelerating adoption and management targeting $200 million in revenue, the company appears positioned for strong growth over the next several years under new CEO Dipti Vachani’s semiconductor expertise.

Bear case

Adeia is exposed to substantial execution risk because its growth depends on successful R&D outcomes, and its hybrid bonding technology and other innovations may never become commercially viable or widely adopted. The company’s sole IP licensing model also makes it vulnerable to patent challenges, invalidation, and infringement disputes, any of which could weaken monetization and reduce the value of its technology portfolio. As patents expire, Adeia faces greater competition and margin pressure, underscoring a fragile long-term earnings profile despite being valued on a 25x FY27 Non-GAAP EPS multiple.
