The case for and against

Updated Oct 15, 2026

Bull case

Ambarella is positioned favorably because its X7 and broader CVflow portfolio target edge and physical AI with a differentiated low-power architecture, consuming about 2–5 watts and only 2MB to 4MB of memory, which reduces dependence on power-hungry data-center accelerators. The company also delivered improving execution, with 2QF27 revenue of $108.1M, up 13.2% year over year, non-GAAP gross margin of 59.3%, and non-GAAP EPS of $0.18, while record Edge AI revenue and automotive and IoT growth signal healthy end-market traction. Management’s raised five-year SAM outlook from $8.5B in FY27 to $22.9B in FY32, plus seven-year partnerships with Macnica and Capgemini that each could add about $500M of potential revenue, support a longer runway for growth.

Bear case

Ambarella is viewed negatively because its growth depends on expensive leading-edge semiconductor process technology, where rising complexity and weak yields can pressure revenue and profitability. The company also faces concentration risk in early-stage ADAS adoption, where any significant system failure could slow or halt implementations and new designs, while deeper trade restrictions with China could disrupt its global customer supply chain. In addition, departures of key management or engineering talent could delay new product introductions, which are the main driver of future revenue growth, and adoption in automotive and IP security cameras may prove slower than expected.
