The case for and against

Updated Oct 14, 2026

Bull case

Arista Networks is viewed favorably because it is compounding market share in cloud and data center networking while benefiting from exceptional AI-driven demand across hyperscalers, neoclouds, and enterprise inference. Revenue grew 35% year over year to $2.71B, gross margin was 62.4%, operating margin reached 47.8%, and FY26 revenue growth guidance was raised to 27.7% with AI revenue targeted at $3.5B. Its unified software-and-hardware platform, strong customer ties with Microsoft and Meta, and expanding 1.6Tbps and XPU opportunities support a durable secular growth profile despite supply constraints.

Bear case

Arista Networks is facing a negative outlook because its growth is increasingly dependent on a narrow customer base, with outsized exposure to Microsoft, Meta, and Google creating quarterly volatility and a growing mismatch between large-cloud capex plans and Arista’s 2026 revenue expectations. Although management raised its annual AI revenue target to $3.5B from $3.25B and has $8.9B of prepaid commitments, supply tightness and willingness to sacrifice margin to ship revenue could pressure execution, while gross margins are still only expected in the 62-64% range over the next two to three years. Competition from Cisco, Dell, Extreme Networks, Juniper, Huawei, and upstarts, along with lengthening sales cycles, macro weakness, and rapid technology shifts, further threaten revenue durability and valuation quality.
