The case for and against

Updated Oct 14, 2026

Bull case

Artiva Biotherapeutics is supported by compelling early clinical evidence that its off-the-shelf AlloNK platform can generate deep, durable responses in autoimmune disease while preserving a favorable safety profile, with no CRS, ICANS, GvHD, or hypogammaglobulinemia reported across the broader 73-patient dataset. The 6-month RA and Sjögren’s data are especially encouraging, including a 77% ACR50/mACR50 rate in 21 RA patients, a 71% ACR50 at 6 months, and meaningful SjD improvements such as ClinESSDAI -8.6, ESSDAI -6.6, and ESSPRI -3.0 that compare favorably with competitors. Financially, the strengthened balance sheet with a pro-forma cash position of $387M and runway well into 2028 provides meaningful flexibility to advance the pivotal RA program and expand into additional indications.

Bear case

Artiva Biotherapeutics is a speculative early-stage company whose AlloNK platform still faces major efficacy uncertainty, since NK cell approaches lack extensive validation and durable drug-free remissions are unproven. Its clinical programs are all in Phase II or earlier, and even encouraging response durability in 21 RA patients and >90-day B-cell depletion across 51 AID patients does not eliminate the risk of relapse, limited tolerability, or failure to generate additional candidates. Financially and strategically, the company may need additional capital on unfavorable terms while competing against many cell-therapy and emerging bispecific programs, and no NK cell therapies have been approved by FDA or EMA to date.
