The case for and against

Updated Oct 17, 2026

Bull case

Bandwidth is viewed favorably because its usage-based CPaaS model scales directly with voice and messaging interactions, creating meaningful operating leverage as enterprise adoption expands. The write-up points to powerful demand catalysts from Salesforce’s Agentforce Contact Center and broader AI voice adoption, with frameworks implying more than 9,000 customers today, over $50M in voice-only ARR potential, and about $10.5M of incremental 2028 voice-only revenue from AF-CX alone. It also highlights improving fundamentals, including 1Q software services ARR of $25M, 13.9% adjusted EBITDA margins, 16% free cash flow margins, and expectations for high-single-digit total voice growth, supporting a constructive long-term outlook.

Bear case

Bandwidth is a high-risk CPaaS name because its usage-based model offers limited revenue visibility, while concentrated enterprise exposure and intense competition from better-resourced hyperscalers and CRM vendors create ongoing pricing and share pressure. Although its owned global network is a key differentiator for AI voice, slower-than-expected adoption of AI voice or agentic AI would weaken the main growth catalyst, and its messaging economics could also be pressured if lower-priced RCS displaces SMS amid fragmented adoption. The company is also facing added financial strain from aggressive investment, negative operating income, cash burn, approximately a quarter of a million dollars in convertible notes due in 2026 and 2028, and the loss of about $62 million of political campaign messaging revenue in 2024 that disappeared in 2025.
