The case for and against

Updated Oct 18, 2026

Bull case

The Vita Coco Co is well positioned for continued fundamental strength because its coconut water franchise is delivering very strong demand, with VC Water retail sales up 32.7% in 2Q26TD ex-club and 36.6% organic growth in 1Q26, while Walmart added an estimated ~5pp lift. The Copra acquisition further reinforces the coconut water category thesis, with expected ~$40M sales contribution in 2H26 and accretive adjusted EBITDA margins after full integration, supporting a higher 2026E EBITDA view from about $140M to ~$170M. Although ocean freight costs are rising and remain volatile, the company’s ability to offset higher logistics and finished-goods costs through pricing, tariff refunds, and operational flexibility suggests its growth and margin momentum can remain resilient.

Bear case

The Vita Coco Co is facing a less attractive fundamental setup as rising ocean freight, higher finished-goods costs, and packaging inflation are set to pressure margins into mid-3Q26 and 4Q26, even with tariff refunds partially offsetting the hit. Management’s 2026 sales guidance increase to $790-805M looks softer beneath the surface, since roughly $40M may come from Copra in 2H26, leaving only about $30-45M of uplift in the core business. With gross margins expected to be sequentially lower in 2H26 versus 1H26 and freight rates already above 2025 levels, the company’s earnings leverage appears constrained despite 2026TD revenue growth expectations.
