The case for and against

Updated Oct 21, 2026

Bull case

Credo Technology Group is well positioned to benefit from accelerating AI-driven data infrastructure demand, with 4Q26 revenue of $437.0M up 157% y/y and FY27 revenue growth guided around 70% y/y, supported by healthy gross margins near 68% and roughly 50% operating margins. The bullish case is strengthened by a larger expected beat in 1Q27, where revenue is seen around $490M versus a $465–475M guide, as 800G and 1.6T AECs ramp and scale-up connectivity gains traction. Management’s indication that optical products could contribute more than $600M in FY27, alongside over $175M of free cash flow and about $1.4B of cash, suggests both operating leverage and balance-sheet flexibility.

Bear case

Credo Technology Group is viewed negatively because the 1.6T AEC market is becoming more competitive just as the company’s 800G advantage faces pressure from Marvell and Broadcom, while management’s push into optical appears to target a crowded, lower-margin market rather than a clear moat. Its ZeroFlap optical transceiver opportunity is large but only forecast to contribute low $100s of millions in FY27, and non-GAAP gross margin was 68.3% in 4Q26 with guidance roughly flat through FY27, still above the 63–65% long-term target but likely to compress as DustPhotonics is consolidated. Concentration risk is also elevated, with the top four customers driving about 87% of revenue, so one program pause, supply-chain constraints, or weaker AI funding and returns could quickly derail execution and sentiment.
