The case for and against

Updated Oct 18, 2026

Bull case

Docusign is viewed favorably because it is leveraging its dominant e-signature franchise to expand into the broader agreement layer, which can deepen customer reliance and lift spend across the platform. Its Intelligence Agreement Management product beat expectations at $529M versus $474M, is expected to exceed $650M by the end of FY27, and already represents 15.1% of total ARR, while Iris is trained on over 300 million private consented agreements. The company also delivered revenue of $876M, non-GAAP EPS of $1.16, and a 31.6% operating margin, with strong customer growth, 103% net retention, and rising free cash flow supporting the bullish outlook.

Bear case

Docusign is exposed to a core revenue stream that depends heavily on e-signature adoption, and any slowdown in that usage could pressure operating results and limit growth. The company also faces a highly competitive, evolving market, potential cyber and data-breach risks, and uncertainty around whether its total addressable market was overstated, all of which could constrain its long-term expansion. Fundamentally, the outlook is weakened by ongoing execution issues, including sales-force turnover, a 9% workforce reduction, and a credibility gap after multiple billings guidance misses and downshifts, suggesting a long and difficult turnaround.
