The case for and against

Updated Oct 21, 2026

Bull case

BRP is benefiting from strong execution and improving industry fundamentals, with Q1 revenue of $2,392 million (+29.5% YoY), normalized EBITDA of $334.4 million (+66.5% YoY), and normalized diluted EPS of $1.83, all ahead of consensus. Share gains are accelerating in ORV and premium models, retail demand remains solid in utility channels, inventory is approaching near-optimal levels, and spring 2027 pre-orders for Ski-Doo and Lynx are +50% YoY, supporting confidence in future growth. Despite tariff pressure, management’s mitigation actions, a favorable promotional backdrop, a balance sheet at 1.4x leverage, and expected FCF above $600 million with ongoing buybacks suggest resilient earnings power and attractive capital returns.

Bear case

BRP is facing a deteriorating fundamental backdrop as tariffs have pressured gross margins by 740bp y/y, while management now expects net tariff exposure of $200mm this year and $225mm annualized in 2027, with S338 alone a ~$60mm-$65mm headwind next year. Even after some mitigation, F27 guidance implies sales of $9.125b-$9.325b and Adjusted EBITDA of $925MM-$975MM, down 12%-16% y/y, while Normalized Diluted EPS of $3.00-$3.50 trails consensus and reflects meaningful margin compression from inflation, mix, and commodity headwinds. The outlook is further weakened by BRP’s cyclical demand exposure, with about 72% of revenue tied to North America, plus weather sensitivity, social acceptability risk, and a concentrated dual-share structure that can limit governance flexibility.
