The case for and against

Updated Oct 16, 2026

Bull case

Entegris is well positioned to outperform the semiconductor cycle because its consumable-heavy portfolio is embedded in high-value, high-risk fabrication steps where purity, defect control, and process repeatability are critical, and roughly 75% of revenue is tied to recurring production volumes while 25% is capex-linked. Exposure to leading-edge nodes, including advanced logic and memory, should lift content per wafer as AI-driven demand, 2nm transitions, HBM adoption, and higher-layer NAND architectures increase the need for filtration, CMP, deposition, and specialty chemistries. Financially, the thesis is supported by 2026E/2027E EBITDA of $1,028M/$1,243M, recent gross margin improvement, and leverage declining to 3.4x in 2Q26 with further deleveraging expected as free cash flow strengthens.

Bear case

Entegris is exposed to a highly cyclical semiconductor capital-spending environment, and its dependence on fabrication demand makes slower mainstream logic recovery, delayed capacity additions, and operational risk from new facility ramps a direct threat to growth and margins. Its top ten customers accounted for 50% of 2025 sales, while roughly 75% of revenue was weighted to Asia, including about 23% tied to Taiwan and 21% to China, leaving it vulnerable to customer concentration, export controls, tariffs, and regional demand volatility. Although its purification and wafer-handling products are mission-critical, rising competition in CMP and other materials markets could pressure share and limit the upside from the anticipated 2025 levels in EBITDA margins.
