The case for and against

Updated Oct 14, 2026

Bull case

Enterprise Prods Partners is well positioned by its scale, diversified footprint, and dominant NGL franchise, which let it capture margins across the full midstream value chain while reducing dependence on any single commodity stream. Strong export demand, elevated spot loading rates, and roughly 90% contracted LPG dock capacity support resilient cash flows, and management expects operational discretionary cash flow growth of about $1 billion even after adding $300 million to capex. With estimated distribution coverage above 1.5x, leverage of 2.75x to 3.25x, and a visible organic growth backlog that should lift earnings into 2027, the business combines defensive stability with meaningful upside from new projects and buybacks.

Bear case

Enterprise Prods Partners is facing a more cautious fundamental setup as 3Q26 Adjusted EBITDA is revised down to $2,689MM from $2,748MM, reflecting margin and volume normalization and a month of PDH2 downtime, while 2026 EBITDA is now seen at $11,012MM versus $11,074MM previously. The outlook is pressured by sustained weakness in NGL, crude, or natural gas prices, lower drilling activity, weaker downstream demand, and possible overbuild in NGL pipeline capacity to Mont Belvieu, all of which could compress processing and marketing margins. Although leverage improved with total debt at $33.9 billion and liquidity of about $3.3 billion at the end of 1Q26, project execution risk, rising interest rates, and climate-related scrutiny add further downside to the investment case.
