The case for and against

Updated Oct 16, 2026

Bull case

Figure Technology is positioned favorably because its blockchain-rail model appears to deliver faster close times, lower fraud risk, and lower origination costs, creating a structural efficiency edge that supports superior margins. Growth is also exceptional, with 2Q marketplace volume of $4.3 billion up 131.8% Y/Y, June volume at $1.519 billion up 155% Y/Y, and 2Q adjusted EBITDA of $119.4 million and GAAP EPS of $0.35 both beating expectations. The pending Kiavi acquisition, expected to close by YE26, could add about $9.2 billion in volume, $345+ million in revenue, and $0.20+ in GAAP EPS to FY27, while emerging products like YLDS, crypto-backed loans, and the crypto exchange add further long-term upside.

Bear case

Figure Technology is vulnerable to a slowdown in HELOC growth if home prices soften or first-lien mortgage activity rises, especially if emerging products fail to scale fast enough to offset the core business. Its exposure to credit deterioration is also a concern, because defaults and delinquencies could reduce demand from funding partners and pressure originations even though it retains only about 5% of originations on balance sheet. As a credit, FinTech, and blockchain company, it also faces macro, geopolitical, and competitive risk, including a challenged moat if rivals adopt blockchain cost savings and a compressed FY27 GAAP P/E multiple near 20x.
