The case for and against

Updated Oct 14, 2026

Bull case

GE HealthCare Techs is well positioned for sustained growth because its 2025 revenue base is diversified across Imaging, AVS, PCS, and PDx, with roughly half of sales recurring through service, diagnostics, and digital offerings that should soften cyclicality. The recent $945M cash acquisition of Sofie Biosciences strengthens its radiopharmaceuticals franchise, adds a phase 3 asset, and is expected to be accretive to revenue growth, operating margin, and EPS in the first full year while supporting a larger, more durable PDx pipeline. In addition, 1H26 capital book-to-bill strength, a $23.9B backlog in 2Q26, and new product launches such as Photonova Spectra and Flyrcado support mid-single digit organic growth and high-single digit EPS expansion, even as China remains a manageable headwind.

Bear case

GE HealthCare Techs is likely to face a weak fundamental setup because its growth profile is constrained by low-single-digit revenue expectations, pressure on hospital capital budgets, and continued China headwinds even after the region returned to growth in 2Q26. The company also faces category-specific risks, including Omnipaque generic competition that could trim PDx growth by about 150 bps, plus customer attrition risk from Sofie because it supports competing radiopharmaceutical firms such as Lantheus. Although PDx generated $2.9 billion in 2025 sales with a 30% margin and the business is roughly half recurring, these strengths may not offset margin pressure, competitive intensity, and execution risk across a global mix of 46% US & Canada, 26% EMEA, 11% China, and 17% rest of world.
