The case for and against

Updated Oct 22, 2026

Bull case

Guardian Metal Resources is favored because its Pilot Mountain project has already delivered a larger, higher-confidence resource base, with the PFS upgrading the Desert Scheelite and Garnet deposits to 11.8M tonnes of WO3 in the probable category at 0.171% average grade, or 20,275 tonnes of contained metal. The recently discovered Tremor and Good Hope zones were not included in the PFS, yet positive tungsten drilling there suggests further resource expansion and potential mine-life extension as the company advances toward a DFS in early 2027. Fundamental upside is also supported by Tempiute’s near-term optionality from blasted ore, stockpiled surface material, and possible tailings reprocessing, which could generate revenue and EBITDA as early as next year while processing optimization may lift recoveries above 78.5%.

Bear case

Guardian Metal Resources is exposed to a highly volatile tungsten market, where pricing swings can materially affect revenue, operating profitability, EBITDA, and cash flow from quarter to quarter, while competition and any new market entrants could pressure prices further. Its development pipeline in Nevada also faces meaningful execution risk from supply chain disruptions, equipment issues, unfavorable weather, cost overruns, and start-up setbacks that could delay project timelines and impair utilization and recovery rates. The company likely needs additional debt or equity funding to execute planned expansion projects, and geopolitical shifts or easing trade restrictions could reduce the strategic value of its domestic tungsten assets.
