The case for and against

Updated Oct 17, 2026

Bull case

Gold.com is supported by a stronger earnings trajectory driven by higher precious-metals volatility, wider bullion spreads, and normalization from the softer demand seen after the Middle East leveled off and rates stayed elevated. Its calendar 2027 EBITDA estimate of $205M and $180M in EBITDA for the year, the best since June 2023, reflect leverage from organic growth, 12 acquisitions since February 2024, and expanding channels such as collectibles, mints, and Tether-related business. The company also benefits from a conservative balance sheet and lower funding costs, while a $1.80 total payout this year, or 4.2% of the current stock price, helps support shareholder returns even if quarterly results remain volatile.

Bear case

Gold.com is facing a negative setup because the strong demand and widening spreads seen at the start of the Iran conflict have already begun to fade since mid-March, with silver sales slowing to down 2% versus 86% in the March quarter and EBITDA falling more than expected in June. That weakness matters because the company’s largest revenue engine is bullion wholesale, and softer precious-metals interest historically compresses earnings, while its Secured Lending segment is also exposed to declines in metal prices that can shrink the loan portfolio and interest income. Even with gold ounces sold up 51% year over year and volatility still supportive, reliance on volatile geopolitical demand, mint supply, and restrictive liquidity covenants leaves fundamentals vulnerable if the recent slowdown persists.
