The case for and against

Updated Oct 14, 2026

Bull case

Intrusion is viewed positively because its commercial momentum is improving through multiple catalysts, including the launch of Intrusion Shield Cloud on AWS Marketplace and Microsoft Azure, traction with PortNexus, and a recently won $4 million state government contract that validates demand for its threat-intelligence platform. The June 2026 acquisition of VigilAigent for about $3 million adds approximately $3.5 million in annual recurring revenue, plus an installed base of around 1,000 customers and more than 80 reseller partners, materially expanding reach and recurring revenue visibility. Although Q1 revenues fell 50% y-o-y and Q2 revenues fell 22% y-o-y with net losses of $2.6 million versus an expected $1.9 million loss, the long-term outlook remains constructive because growth opportunities and valuation appear to outweigh near-term volatility.

Bear case

Intrusion is facing a weak fundamental setup, as Q2 revenue fell 22% year over year to $1.5 million and EPS missed expectations at $(0.13), reflecting another period of underperformance after Q1 revenue dropped 50% to $0.9 million. The repeated delays in a major government contract have driven two straight revenue declines, while the lack of Q2 guidance adds visibility risk and suggests execution remains uneven despite prior sequential improvement. Liquidity also looks fragile, with only $1 million in cash, no debt, and a $3 million debt raise in the current Q2 after a $3.6 million net loss and weaker-than-expected cash position at the end of December.
