The case for and against

Updated Oct 15, 2026

Bull case

OrthoPediatrics is attractive because its “Super Cycle” reflects a return to new-product innovation after years of EU MDR compliance work, with roughly 14 launches already completed and additional platforms expected in FY27 and beyond. Its products are gaining share in pediatric orthopedic niches where larger competitors have stepped back, and distributor feedback points to strong demand, incremental case volume, and higher average selling prices, especially for 3P Hip, PNP Tibia, and VerteGlide. Financially, revenue grew 13.3% year over year in 1Q26 to about $59.4 million, FY26 guidance was raised to roughly $263 million to $267 million, and improving gross margins near 73% plus leverage from OPSB and higher-margin launches should support profitability.

Bear case

OrthoPediatrics is viewed negatively because its growth depends on distributor productivity and a still-developing portfolio, while weakness in Orthex, ApiFix, Pega Medical, Boston O&P, or MDOrtho could pressure results. The company also faces mounting risk from larger, more entrenched orthopedics competitors, which could limit market share gains and weaken pricing power. On valuation and execution, shares trade at 1.6x NTM EV/Sales versus high-growth peers at 4.3x, but that discount may persist if higher spending to drive growth slows the path to profitability and if the product pipeline, key customers, or distributors deteriorate.
