The case for and against

Updated Oct 18, 2026

Bull case

Kimberly-Clark is positioned to benefit from a resilient portfolio anchored in personal care and consumer tissue, with brands such as Huggies, Kotex, Kleenex, and Cottonelle supporting steady demand across essential categories. Its geographic mix, led by just over half of sales in North America and more than 10% in Europe, should provide scale, while the addition of Kenvue’s consumer health portfolio in the second half of calendar year 2026 could broaden its growth platform and strengthen mix. Despite expected 1% to 2% organic sales and EPS growth in 2026-28, the company’s disciplined hedging, 5-year $3B productivity program, and ability to offset input-cost pressure through pricing and efficiency support a constructive fundamental outlook.

Bear case

Kimberly-Clark is facing weaker fundamental momentum as incremental headwinds are pressuring both sales growth and earnings, including a postponed innovation launch, inventory de-loading, and cost inflation from freight, logistics, and tariffs. Management’s exposure to slower China recovery is also weighing on top-line trends, with social commerce still a key uncertainty and an expected 250-300 bps drag on IPC growth in 3Q26 and similar pressure in 4Q26. As a result, 3Q26E organic revenue is modeled to decline 1.3% and EPS to fall 13.0%, underscoring deteriorating near-term operating leverage.
