The case for and against

Updated Oct 18, 2026

Bull case

Lovesac is attractive because it is pairing a weak near-term consumer backdrop with clear product-led growth catalysts, including four meaningful launches in the back half of the year, a premium sactional innovation, and a larger high-end configuration that should deepen its “good, better, best” assortment. The company’s 1Q26 results showed resilience, with revenue of $138.2M versus $136.3M consensus, gross margin of 52.1%, and an EBITDA loss of $10.5M that beat expectations, while high-end demand above $6,000 and $8,000 remains notably stronger. Fundamentally, management is also leveraging white-glove rollout efficiencies, 12% higher written quotes, and $3.6M of tariff refunds, with another $17.2M potentially available, supporting margin recovery and future profitability.

Bear case

Lovesac is facing a softer fundamental setup as 2Q sales of $161.2M and EBITDA excluding tariff refunds of a $1.3M loss were merely in line, while gross margin of 56.0% missed expectations and was pressured by transportation costs and tariff-related impacts. Management’s lowered full-year outlook reflects later new product launches, uncertain macro conditions, and promotional competition, even as 4Q assumes a recovery; accordingly, 2026 and 2027 EBITDA estimates were cut to $33.0M and $35.9M from $39.0M and $44.3M. The stock also carries elevated risk from founder succession dependency, knockoffs, and intense competition from Amazon, Ikea, Walmart, and Wayfair, all of which could constrain growth and valuation versus the 9x peer average.
