The case for and against

Updated Oct 14, 2026

Bull case

  • MNTN is attractive fundamentally because its AI-driven Performance TV platform is converting the shift from linear TV to measurable CTV into rapid customer growth, with trailing-12-month active customers up 40% to 4,225 in Q2 2026 and revenue up 21% Y/Y to $82.5 million.
  • Its economics are also improving sharply, as gross margin expanded to 80%, adjusted EBITDA rose 48% to $21.5 million, first-half operating cash flow nearly doubled to $34.0 million, and the business produced $6.7 million of GAAP net income while holding $237 million of cash and no borrowings.
  • The third-party integrations, premium inventory access, and products such as MNTN Matched, Verified Visits, and QuickFrame AI broaden its addressable market, strengthen attribution and creative efficiency, and support a capital-light model that can sustain reinvestment, higher returns on capital, and long-term shareholder value creation.

Bear case

MNTN is exposed to a fragile investment case because its performance TV model still depends on proving durable attribution and return on ad spend, both of which may be overstated in CTV and difficult to validate. Competition from DSPs and more brand-centric platforms like The Trade Desk could pressure take rates, while walled gardens around CTV properties may restrict access to performance budgets and reduce platform flexibility. Its valuation is already framed around ~10x 2027E EBITDA, yet the business remains vulnerable to macro-driven ad-spend volatility, regulatory changes, and costly international expansion that could strain execution.
