The case for and against

Updated Oct 16, 2026

Bull case

Ouster is benefiting from rapid adoption of its REV8 LiDAR and Stereolabs cameras, with design wins in autonomous agriculture, counter-UAS, and smart infrastructure broadening its addressable market. The company’s 2Q26 revenue rose to $54.6M, up 55.9% Y/Y, while non-GAAP gross margin reached 53.5% and the adjusted EBITDA loss improved to ($4.45M), signaling stronger operating leverage alongside expanding scale. With more than 17,000 sensors shipped, multiple $1M+ REV8 orders, and exposure to industrial, robotics, and autonomous vehicle applications, the business appears well positioned for sustained 30%+ revenue growth.

Bear case

Ouster is facing a cautious outlook because its Rev8 and Stereolabs customer wins are converting more slowly into volume production, which delays the revenue scale needed to support profitability. The company’s 3Q26 guidance of $54.5M-$57.5M in revenue, or $56.0M at the midpoint, came in below estimates, even as management reaffirmed about $5M of FY26 royalty revenue and expects 3Q operating expenses to rise 5%-8% Y/Y. Gross margin and operating leverage also appear at risk if higher-volume deployments carry lower ASPs or if manufacturing cost reductions lag the ramp to production volumes by quarter-end.
