The case for and against

Updated Oct 16, 2026

Bull case

SkinHealth Systems is attractive fundamentally because its installed base of 36,516 systems and roughly 75% consumables-driven revenue create a recurring, high-margin model that can compound as utilization improves. Despite 2Q26 revenue falling 8% to $72.1M, adjusted EBITDA rose to $17.0M, helped by gross margin expansion to 71.8% and disciplined expense control, while the new U.S. rental program should ease provider financing constraints and support placements. The outlook is further strengthened by adjacent-category momentum, including SkinStylus growing nearly 50% y/y and HydraScalp’s relaunch traction, alongside upcoming clinical and platform launches that broaden future growth drivers.

Bear case

SkinHealth Systems is facing a deteriorating fundamental setup because its $91M market cap sits well below its ~$206M cash balance, yet investors still must underwrite weak conversion of profitability into durable free cash flow and a $250MM November 2028 convertible maturity that remains a balance-sheet overhang. Revenue visibility is poor after FY26 guidance was reduced, 3Q26 revenue of $65-70MM and adj. EBITDA of $5-7MM imply continued declines, and 2Q showed Delivery Systems revenue down 18% y/y while Consumables fell 4% y/y amid pressured utilization and tougher competition. Installed-base productivity also looks weak, with 770 placements generating only 97 net additions, while litigation, regulatory risk, and one-time restructuring costs threaten to keep cash flow and brand momentum under pressure.
