The case for and against

Updated Oct 10, 2026

Bull case

SoundHound AI is viewed favorably because it is delivering revenue well ahead of expectations, with large deals helped by interest in OASYS, while also maintaining confidence in FY27 guidance for $350M-$400M of revenue. Its announced acquisition of LivePerson for an enterprise value of about $250M should add meaningful scale, extend reach into F500 telecom, airline, technology, and banking customers, and support cross-sell and upsell opportunities across its voice AI platform. Despite some integration risk, the deal is seen as accretive on a valuation basis, may improve margins, and could leave the company with a strong balance sheet and no debt at closing.

Bear case

SoundHound AI is exposed to an unstable revenue mix because a meaningful portion of sales is non-recurring and tied to license or royalty-based business, leaving results vulnerable if product demand slows, especially in auto sales, which account for a significant share of revenue. Its fundamentals are further weakened by the absence of positive GAAP operating income, meaning the company still needs stronger scale to reach sustainable profitability, and any delay in that path can pressure the stock. The outlook is also restrained by intense competition in rapidly evolving voice AI markets and by customer concentration, with more than 30% of revenue coming from one customer, creating outsized downside risk if that relationship changes.
