The case for and against

Updated Oct 14, 2026

Bull case

Spire Global is supported by accelerating core revenue growth, with Q1 revenue of $15.8M beating expectations and adjusted EBITDA also ahead, while approximately 76% of its 2026 guidance is already under contract and the remainder is backed by a robust pipeline and sole-source opportunities. Its outlook is strengthened by a shift toward durable multi-year subscriptions, deeper customer workflow integration, and higher-margin government and RF solutions, including RFGL traction with 5 U.S. and 3 international orders, plus HyMS “first light” and active NOAA proposals across more than $150M of opportunities. Financial flexibility also improved after the $70M private placement and debt retirement, while secured launch capacity through 2028 and a 300-400 satellite annual manufacturing footprint reduce execution risk and support operating leverage as new capacity comes online.

Bear case

Spire Global is challenged by a fragile operating profile, with first-quarter cash used in operations of $26.2M and 2026 guidance still implying revenues of only $75M-$85M, alongside a Non-GAAP operating loss of ($37.8M) to ($32.6M) and adjusted EBITDA loss of ($26.0M) to ($20.7M). While gross margins improved to 44.0% non-GAAP and 39.8% GAAP, the business still faces elevated execution risk from satellite manufacturing, legal and professional fees, and dependence on backlog conversion to sustain margin expansion. The cancellation of the WildFireSat program underscores customer and project concentration risk, and the noted material weakness in financial reporting, dual-class structure, regulatory complexity, and competitive and space-debris risks further weaken the investment case.
