The case for and against

Updated Oct 14, 2026

Bull case

Stagwell is positioned well because its 2Q26 results showed accelerating fundamentals, with net revenue up 6% year over year to $631.6 million and adjusted EBITDA up 15% to $108.7 million, while adjusted EPS rose 38% to $0.25. Its growth is being driven by a differentiated mix of creative services and AI-enabled digital transformation, including 18% organic growth in that segment, record new business of about $170 million, and a pipeline roughly 30% above last year. The company is also improving operating leverage through margin expansion, share repurchases, and rising productivity, as revenue per FTE increased 5% and labor costs declined, supporting a durable outlook for earnings and cash generation.

Bear case

Stagwell is vulnerable to a softer ad market because a recession would likely slow client spending, and as a challenger network it lacks the defensive qualities that can fully offset cyclical demand pressure. Account concentration risk also clouds the outlook: despite recent wins, a dry spell in new business could quickly pressure growth, while The Marketing Cloud remains a weak spot with $27.4mm of revenue and a $5.3mm adjusted EBITDA loss. Even with disciplined headcount reduced 5% y/y to about 10,822 FTEs and FY26E net revenue of $2.65B, margin progress may prove insufficient if macro conditions deteriorate.
