The case for and against

Updated Oct 14, 2026

Bull case

Silvaco Group is benefiting from a stronger mix of recurring software demand, with Q2 revenue up 48% year over year to $18m, bookings up 25% to $16m, and RPO up 24% to $45m, while its operating margin improved to 4% and non-GAAP EPS reached $0.32. The outlook is supported by the FTCO platform’s expanding adoption, including 4 customers in August and a meaningful Micron partnership that added $10m of convertible debt funding, which should deepen revenue visibility and grow backlog over the next 18 months. Growth is also broadening in IP and EDA, where SIP revenue surged 238% year over year, IP bookings rose 70%, and management expects healthy renewals, a record Q4 revenue print, and improving free cash flow as the turnaround nears completion.

Bear case

Silvaco Group is a relatively small player in EDA with limited resources, which makes it harder to sustain consistent revenue growth, defend pricing, and achieve the scale needed for durable profitability. Its heavy reliance on term-based licensed on-premise tools, plus the need to retain scarce core R&D engineering talent in a rapidly changing end-market, heightens execution risk and leaves the business vulnerable to product obsolescence. Even with Rosenblatt’s FY26e revenue at $72m and FY27 revenue at $86m, the bear case assumes EDA growth decelerates and SVCO fails to improve operating margin to 25%+, reinforcing a negative fundamental outlook.
