The case for and against

Updated Oct 17, 2026

Bull case

Thor Industries is benefiting from a broad product mix and expanding footprint, with over 30 brands across North America and Europe, plus aftermarket parts that contribute about 10% of sales. Despite a missed 3Q26 print and FY26 guidance cut tied to macroeconomic and geopolitical pressure, its core demand base remains resilient, supported by trade-up activity in the new RV retail market and strong FY26 scale at 159,956 wholesaled units and $9.6 billion in revenue. The NA motorized segment also showed underlying strength, with revenue up 7.7% to $717.7 million, led by 18.5% growth in Class C, suggesting margin leverage and earnings upside as efficiency tailwinds build.

Bear case

Thor Industries is facing a fundamentally weak demand backdrop, as sluggish retail activity, macro and geopolitical tensions, and cautious dealer ordering have already forced it to cut FY26 EPS guidance to $3.30-$3.80 despite reaffirming $9.0B-$9.5B in sales. 3Q26 underscored the pressure, with revenue down 3.9% y/y to $2.782B, gross margin falling to 12.8%, and adjusted EBITDA dropping 28.0% to $183.6M, while NA Towables sales plunged 24.6% and backlog fell 39.1% y/y. Even though Europe and NA Motorized showed pockets of strength, lower-margin mix, warranty and material costs, and competitive and concentration risks suggest earnings quality remains fragile and margin recovery uncertain.
