The case for and against

Updated Oct 14, 2026

Bull case

Uber Technologies is attractive fundamentally because its platform is compounding across Mobility, Delivery, and B2B, with Uber for Business reaching $5B+ in annualized bookings as of 1Q26 across 300K+ organizations and ezCater adding a profitable, margin-accretive workplace catering layer. Its AV strategy is also gaining traction, with Uber AV Mobility Trips up 10x y/y, live in eight cities, and no visible cannibalization of human-driven Mobility, while 140k users in London already opted into the Wayve autonomous option. Cross-selling and ecosystem depth further strengthen the outlook, as nearly 20% of consumers use both Rides and Eats, Uber One exceeds 70% of Delivery Gross Bookings, and management continues to highlight strong incremental margins and synergies from recent acquisitions.

Bear case

Uber Technologies is facing a weakening fundamental backdrop because its Mobility and Delivery businesses operate in a highly competitive market that may require heavier sales and marketing incentives just to sustain user growth across more than 70 countries and 200 million monthly users. It also remains in investment mode, with adjusted EBITDA losses in the business overall and Delivery still requiring capital, which limits near-term profitability even as Mobility is now adjusted EBITDA profitable. Regulatory pressure adds another layer of risk, as Prop-22 in California has increased operating costs and similar measures in more states could further constrain driver supply, raise expenses, and pressure margins.
