The case for and against

Updated Oct 14, 2026

Bull case

  • Xperi is benefiting from improving subscriber momentum, with TiVo One users approaching the full-year target and more than 7 million monthly active users on pace for 2026, while AutoStage has expanded to more than 17 million vehicles across 14 brands, supporting a scalable cross-screen advertising opportunity.
  • Its second quarter results beat expectations at $114.5M of revenue and $24.5M of adjusted EBITDA, with revenue up 8% year over year and EBITDA margins expanding to 21.4% from 14.4% as cost cuts and headcount reductions lifted profitability.
  • Although free cash flow has been pushed to 2027, continued growth in Connected Car revenue, ad revenue above 10% of total, and XPER’s status as the last independently operated media platform suggest a stronger foundation for future re-rating.

Bear case

Xperi is facing a fragile fundamental setup because second quarter revenue of $114.5 million only matched expectations, while non-GAAP net income of $13.6 million, or $0.28 per share, still leaves limited cushion if growth stalls. Its TiVo One platform reached 6.3 million MAUs, but ARPU fell to $6.70 from $7.10 in Q1 and the business remains below the 7 million target by the end of 2026, while TiVo OS added no new TV OEMs this quarter. The outlook is further pressured by legacy Pay-TV declines that may outpace IPTV gains, quarter-to-quarter volatility from minimum guarantee contracts, and the risk that TiVo OS cannot scale fast enough to support ad revenue and margin expansion.
