The case for and against

Updated Oct 18, 2026

Bull case

Zenas BioPharma is supported by compelling Phase 3 INDIGO data showing obexelimab reduced cumulative glucocorticoid toxicity versus placebo at week 52 (GTI Cumulative Worsening Score difference: -11.4; p=0.021) and delivered 12-month flare-free probabilities of 93% and 87% in the open-label extension. Its differentiated bifunctional CD19/FcγRIIb mechanism, non-depleting and reversible design, and at-home subcutaneous dosing strengthen the case for chronic IgG4-RD maintenance therapy, especially as the company estimates ~30–40K prevalent US cases, ~25K diagnosed and treated patients, and a ~$4B commercial opportunity. With the May 27, 2027 PDUFA approaching and additional SLE and vaccine-response data expected in 4Q26, YE26, October 8, and November 10, the stock benefits from multiple catalysts and a large unmet-need backdrop where steroid toxicity and B-cell depletion remain major limitations.

Bear case

Zenas BioPharma is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company whose outlook is pressured by heavy dependence on obexelimab, a single lead program that must still prove efficacy, durable dosing intervals, and an acceptable safety profile in target indications. Clinical or regulatory failure, including safety signals that could halt development, would materially weaken the company’s prospects and could also delay approvals, market uptake, or financing access. Even if development succeeds, the company still faces commercial risk from current and future therapies, making it difficult to achieve sales estimates and support a durable investment case.
