The case for and against

Updated Oct 14, 2026

Bull case

Penguin Solutions is benefiting from a sharper AI-infrastructure inflection, with management lifting FY27 revenue guidance to about $2.43B, or roughly 40% growth, after AI pipeline, bookings, and conversion improved materially over the past 90 days. Its Advanced Computing and Integrated Memory businesses are the core drivers, with non-hyperscale AI revenue expected to nearly double to about $600M in FY27, Integrated Memory forecast to grow 50% ± 10 points, and 4QFY26 already showing 68% revenue growth plus 28.8% non-GAAP gross margin. The outlook is further strengthened by record backlog, 17 new AI infrastructure customer logos and 12 existing-customer expansions during FY26, alongside CXL bookings ramping faster than expected and management expecting operating leverage from modest OpEx growth to support faster EPS growth than revenue.

Bear case

Penguin Solutions is facing a fundamentally uneven setup because its growth is tied to AI and data-center deployments that remain vulnerable to POC-stage delays, customer pushouts, and revenue timing volatility, even as Advanced Computing and Integrated Memory both beat near-term expectations. Its ten largest customers accounted for 66% of net sales in 2025, underscoring concentration risk, while memory pricing, DRAM/Flash overcapacity, and weaker IT budgets could quickly pressure sales and margins. Although FY27(Aug) implied revenue of about $2,424M and non-GAAP EPS of $4.45 suggest growth, the mix shift toward AI hardware, lower LED revenue, and execution risks across design wins and backlog conversion support a negative outlook.
